About Me

Hello there!

 I’m April, the Arizona based vegan food photographer and content creator behind the lifestyle blog AprilWaeh.

You will usually find me in my little kitchen nook baking something, testing recipes with my fiance Johnny, and sharing every hectic/hilarious moment behind the scenes on my instagram.

My interest in baking began at a very young age. When I was still in elementary school, my mom and I had a long commute every morning to her work. I’d sleep most of the way there, but I’d wake up right before we reached our first stop. It was at this cute little shop in Oakland that had some of the best pineapple buns I’ve ever eaten. We’d arrive just as they were opening and everything was fresh out of the oven. As you open the door, the sweet smell of freshly baked bread, sugar, and butter would take over the whole bakery. Those mornings are still some of my favorite childhood memories.

When I was finally of age to work, I managed to get my first job at a local bakery. They carried similar delicious items to the Oakland bakery, and even had the same familiar smell of sweet breads. Working there was a very insightful experience because I learned so much about different types of breads, shaping & baking techniques, and so much more about the pastries I have grown to love.

I’m now applying those lessons, along with new techniques I’ve picked up along the way, on my current baking journey. I am also in the process of opening up my own bakery which is very exciting and simultaneously nerve racking. I will be documenting my journey on this blog, so be sure to stay tuned for all the fun!

On the rare occasion where I’m not in my kitchen, I’m probably on a boba run, watching movies with Johnny, or online shopping for more bake ware.
